Ramps Cymru Theatres

Direct Access is the Access Consultants for Ramps Cymru, the umbrella body of the five largest theatre facilities in Wales.

Direct Access has undertaken accessibility audits of each site, website audits, and undertaken a deep dive into the policy, systems, and procedures of each member to develop a detailed report that strives to create a consistent level of accessibility and experience across all five locations: Theatre Clwyd, Sherman Theatre, Pontio Arts, The Torch Theatre and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

Direct Access previously collaborated with the Royal Welsh College to develop accessibility for the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.

Our website audits included comprehensive reviews of the organisation’s family tree of websites, which also included a review of the Pembrokeshire Story.

Utilising our team’s shared experience of disability, we were able to identify specific issues for people with different disabilities thanks to each of our consultant’s unique circumstances. These reviews included people who were visually impaired, hearing impaired, and neurodiverse, which allowed us to identify improvements that allowed the websites to meet the latest WCAG standards.

Site audits were carried out to identify barriers to access that the current layout of amenities and facilities presented. Various improvements were then suggested to ensure that the site was not only compliant but actively engaging with disabled people and communities.
