Roger Thompson

Access Consultant

Roger joined the firm as one of Direct Access’ staple accessibility consultants in 2023.

From humble beginnings as a Crew Member for Wimpy Fast Foods in Walsall, Roger studied on the side at Walsall College and soon achieved a degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Roger then worked for over 10 years in this field before seeking out roles where he could work directly with Deaf people.

Roger was later enlisted taken by the Sense National Deafbind Ruebella Charity, where he worked for 7 years managing Deafblind Services in Walsall and Sandwell, before leaving his position for another charity, the RNID (Royal National Institute for Deaf People).

Roger remained here for over 20+ years, with responsibilities including Operational Manager and Development Manager. Hoping to work more closely in roles which support a wide range of disabled people, Roger joined us at Direct Access, and the rest is history.

Roger has worked in a vast number of voluntary roles to improve life for people in his local community, including Wolverhampton Healthwatch, the Soup Kitchen at Bethel Lighthouse, and various other community support organisations.

He is a proud husband and father of 4 two girls and two boys.
