York Racecourse is the third largest racecourse in the UK in terms of total prize money offered. Attracting over 350,000 visitors per annum, it hosts the Ebor Handicap, one of Europe’s premier handicap races as well as Group 1 races the Juddmonte International, Nunthorpe Stakes, and Yorkshire Oaks.

York’s rich racing heritage dates to Roman times, with archaeological evidence that racing on the Knavesmire first began as early as 1530.
