Nantwich Food Festival

Direct Access collaborated with Nantwich Food Festival to provide a Calm Corner for attendees of the 2022 edition of the event, the 21st food festival and the very first since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The quiet room space, which our team named the Calm Corner, provided a point of refuge for neurodiverse individuals at the festival who might have otherwise felt overwhelmed at the busy event and unable to attend as a result.

The Calm Corner is Direct Access’ signature marquee built for live events such as food and music festivals, concerts, and theme parks.

Direct Access and our Calm Corner team received support from Hidden Disability Sunflower, who provided our team with Sunflower Lanyards which we provided to attendees at the festival. The disability sunflower is the universally recognized symbol of hidden disabilities. Members of our team, in total, gave out hundreds across the packed, forty thousand-plus capacity, four-day event.

Direct Access previously designed and conceptualised the Calm Corner at Crewe Station, which was the first quiet space of its kind on the UK rail network.

Direct Access founder Steven Mifsud MBE made a speech to attendants, organisers, and sponsors of the festival, which included the Mayor of Nantwich Peter Groves, thanking the festival officials and announcing the success of the Calm Corner.

Direct Access will be providing a new Calm Corner at the Nantwich Food Festival next year, as well as providing the Calm Corner for other, yet-to-be-announced events.
