Royal Liverpool University Hospitals NHS

Direct Access are the Access Consultants for Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – this Trust responsible for managing various hospitals across Liverpool City including Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, and the two central Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

Services cover the full range of hospital services, emergency room facilities, specialist services, cancer, dental and community services.

Initially starting with an audit of the parking facilities at Liverpool Broadgreen, the Trust has commissioned Direct Access with further audits covering the diverse range of services.

The purpose of our access audits were to assess how well each of the sites performed in terms of access and ease of use by a wide range of potential users, including people with disabilities, including the physical building structure, internal hospital facilities, entrances, and car parks.

As the starting point of an ongoing access action plan, our audits were used to highlight areas for improvement as well as provide a general risk assessment to each of the respective sites.

Like our other NHS accessibility audits address, our assessment of Liverpool University Hospitals recognise the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 (DDA Disability Discrimination Act) and includes recommendations for required remedial actions and ongoing monitoring and control measures.
