Access Consultant

With a background in the education sector and a passion for universal design, Nick came to Direct Access after becoming a qualified teacher.

At Manchester Metropolitan University, he gained an education degree in Design and Technology. The final project of his degree deserved as the foundation for developing a Horticultural Therapy facility for the Wrexham Maelor Hospital Occupational Therapy department, assisting patients in developing mobility and dexterity as part of their rehabilitation.

He then worked in secondary schools and further education colleges in North Wales and North West England teaching Information Technology before spending 10 years completing IT and office refurbishment projects for a local authority.

After spending 13 years working within a university Inclusion departmentĀ as a Needs Assessor for Disabled Students’ Allowances and providing training and support to staff and studentsĀ inĀ assistive technology, accessibility, and digital skills, he joined DA as a consultant in 2024.

Nick also volunteers with 4×4 Response Wales to assist local services in times of inclement weather and is a community flood warden.
