Architectural Access Consultant

Direct Access has led the accessibility and inclusion field since our inception in 2004. We are a DOBE™ certified Disability Owned and Operated Business Enterprise providing accessibility consultancy based on our real-life experience of disability. We enable organisations to create inclusive environments that meet and exceed accessibility standards and building regulations. We work with clients, architects, and design teams working on a range of projects from small community venues to UNESCO World Heritage sites.

  • Title: Architectural Access Consultant
  • Reports to: Head of Consultancy
  • Hours: Part time and Full time considered
  • Salary: Based on experience
  • Location: Nantwich / Work from home (occasional international travel)

Position summary

An opportunity has arisen for someone to join our team of dedicated Accessibility Auditors. We are based in the Nantwich; however, remote working candidates will be considered.

You will work on a wide variety of building types.  Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework relating to inclusive design and good knowledge of national standards is beneficial; however, this is not essential as training will be provided.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  1. To identify and record barriers to accessibility and inclusion within both the built and external environment.
  2. To undertake accessibility audits of sites using designated software.
  3. Ability to present clear and well-reasoned Access Reports.
  4. Ability to manage time effectively and work to deadlines.
  5. Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework relating to inclusive design including the requirements of the Equality Act.

 About you:

  • A commitment to the creation of an accessible and inclusive society
  • Degree / qualification in a relevant field advantageous
  • Minimum English Grade C / 4
  • An interest in opportunities to work internationally on projects
