Ailsa Flett

Consultation Manager

Boasting an extensive history working with people with sensory impairments and first-hand experience as a profoundly deaf cochlear implant user, Ailsa has been a natural fit for managing our various consultation programmes, engaging with disabled communities, and gathering feedback that our consultants carefully consider when delivering access audits.

Communicating directly with People of Determination is an essential part of our accessibility auditing process, helping our team deliver inclusive built environments by taking into account the full range and mixture of disabilities in the world. Since joining the team in 2022, Ailsa has managed various consultation programmes for museums, historic sites, and other venues.

Before joining Direct Access, Ailsa helped garner interest and create greater deaf awareness in her home nation of Scotland, not only in the public sector (NHS, Health Promotions, Fire Service, Police Scotland, Fife Council) but in other areas such as volunteer groups, charities and several private sector organisations, including Fife Voluntary Action, ENABLE, CARF among others.

Ailsa enjoys cooking, visiting historic sites, and reading.
