With offices in Clearwater, Fl and Boston, MA we have completed projects across the United States and worldwide. Our team, 86% who are people with disabilities provide real lived experiences of disability.
Steven is the Founder and President of the award-winning disability accessibility consultancy, Direct Access.
Inspired by his own experiences as a deaf cochlear implant user, Steven’s passion for inclusivity led to the creation of Direct Access.
In recognition of his efforts to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, he was honored with an MBE in Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Honors list in 2021.
Steven has played a pivotal role as the lead Access Consultant on several significant projects, including ADA Transition Plans for the City of Allen and the City of McKinney in Texas, as well as accessibility plans in Vermont for the town of Bethel and DAIL housing programs across the state.
Currently, he is coordinating teams to deliver accessibility projects in Ohio, Vermont, New York, and Arizona. From City Halls to emergency shelters, public transportation, medical and education facilities.
He is often sought as a presenter on accessibility and has recently presented at New York Build, the National Parks and Recreation Association, and the American Public Works Association events.
As a deaf individual, Steven understands the power of experience when it comes to providing authentic and relevant accessibility consultancy, surrounding himself with a team of people with deeply personal experiences of disability. You can read more about the wider team below.

From our humble beginnings in the bedroom of our current President, to now having offices in four different countries (and counting), the past twenty years has witnessed the company grow at an accelerated rate.
But most importantly, it has seen us make a considerable difference to the lives of disabled people, who like us, deserved better than society could give us.
Such was the dream of our founder, Steven Mifsud MBE, who first envisioned and registered the company in 2004.
We have a strong, established presence in the United States with our Head Office based in Clearwater, Florida, and a second office on the edge of Chinatown in Boston, Massachusetts. This year, a third office will open in Cincinnati.
Delivering services from coast to coast, we are often invited to present at conferences on Universal Design and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
In addition to the United States, we have several offices in the United Kingdom.
