The New York Build Expo will have American Sign Language interpreters available for the first time this year since the event began.
New York’s leading construction and design show will take place at the Javits Center Feb 13 and 14.
As the event presents an opportunity for Deaf people to learn more about career opportunities in construction and design, our marketing team has already circulated news of the event to all the major colleges in New York, including the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the first and largest technological college in the world for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
It is free to attend but pre-registration is recommended at https://www.newyorkbuildexpo.com/conference-agenda-2024
Direct Access Consultancy LLC, a Deaf-owned business, will exhibit at booth 503, where we will also facilitate sign language interpreters.
Our founder Steven Mifsud MBE will deliver a presentation explaining the new Public Right of Way rule which succeeds the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act of 1990.
Right of way is an essential consideration for any development – how people with disabilities can access and interact with the building or services. This session will focus on the implications of the final rule both for Governments and Architects, when and how should access be developed, the key elements required for accessible sidewalks and crosswalks and action to take during temporary construction. It will be led by Direct Access Consultancy LLC – a team of people with disabilities undertaking public right-of-way assessments for Governments.
Limited free tickets to the Expo, which is set to kick off in just two weeks, are still available now via our partner link; https://www.newyorkbuildexpo.com/directaccess-2024 New York Build Expo
