Working with Direct Access, we will enable your organisation to take vital steps towards meeting social, economic, and environmental impact goals set out by Agenda 2030.
Agenda 2030’s SDGs address all three dimensions of sustainable development (environmental, economic, and social) and are integrated into the United Nations global development agenda. Not only are municipal, regional, and federal governments tasked with putting these goals into action before 2030, but so are corporations, institutions, public services, and SMEs. Each is expected to align their venues, products, services, and employment practices to achieve several of the seventeen goals.
Services we provide including Access Auditing, Consultancy, Egress, and Accessible Formats concurrently apply to Goal 3 “Good health and well-being” as well as Goal 11 “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”, set out by the United Nations.
Furthermore, as a business that provides certain employment opportunities that remain unreserved for our younger and disabled populations, Direct Access dedicates ourselves to aims set out in Goal 8 “Decent work and economic growth” and, naturally, Goal 10 “Reduced Inequalities”. Through our inclusive services and products, we will provide your organization with the necessary guidance to ensure similar standards of inclusion for disabled people.
Our team is no stranger to legislation, having been directly involved in advising for publications of various standards pertaining to inclusion, such as BS 8300: Design of an Accessible and inclusive built environment, PAS 6463 Design for the Mind, as well as various others design standard reviews in both the UK and Australia.
Working across the institutional spectrum with everyone from government bodies to independent businesses, to charities, to the United Nations themselves, Direct Access is in a unique position, as we have worked towards Agenda 2030’s goals long before it was drafted, and for almost two decades. Sustainability of public transport, accessibility of human settlements and digital environments, and disaster risk reduction are hallmarks of our organization’s practices.
However, the 17 goals cannot be met without worldwide cooperation, and the responsibility falls directly on all of us to play our part.
