and Africa region this October. It will see the transformation of a 4.38km\u00b2 site on the border of the Emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi to become the largest ever event staged in the Middle East.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">More than 190 country pavilions will offer interactive exhibits, entertainment, and shows based on the three themes of Mobility, Opportunity, and Sustainability with \u2018Connecting Minds, Creating the Future\u2019 the overarching theme. The event is closely linked to the United Nations sustainability goals aiming to support creativity, innovation, and collaboration.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Expo 2020 Dubai will be open for six months from October 2021 to March 2022 linking with the United Arab Emirates Golden Jubilee.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since 2018, Direct Access has led the accessibility design reviews and informed Architectural and construction firms on accessible design standards. Some areas of the site were initially developed to ADA standards until the new Dubai Universal Design Code\u2019s introduction in 2017. The new Code was part of the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai to create an inclusive city.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e9e6cb4 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"e9e6cb4\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2b7b458\" data-id=\"2b7b458\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-834b18d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"834b18d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our team of Access Consultants benchmarked different international accessibility codes to create an innovative Expo Access Guide that set out specific design requirements for Expo 2020 Dubai. From the Master Planning stage, this work evolved to working on a range of different projects. This included programming and curation development. As building commenced and fit-out took place, our team undertook site audits to ensure compliance with Codes and find opportunities to enhance accessibility post-construction.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As part of the one year-to-go celebration events, we worked with event organisers to facilitate the accessibility of the Maria Carey headline concert in Burj Park, Downtown Dubai.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal simplyweb-checked\"><span class=\"simplyweb-checked\" style=\"color: #000000; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">All our team working on Expo 2020 Dubai are people of determination \u2013 the term for disabled people in the United Arab Emirates.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e728e73 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"e728e73\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-88c3afb\" data-id=\"88c3afb\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bd47fa9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bd47fa9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Supporting Sustainable Programme Management<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0e24a5a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0e24a5a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Accessibility and creating opportunities for people of determination is one of the key elements of the United Nations Sustainability Goals. To support Expo 2020 Dubai\u2019s objectives to host \u201cone of the most sustainable World Expos in history\u201d Direct Access worked with Expo to:<\/span><\/p><p class=\"simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00b7 Write the accessibility sections of the annual Sustainability reports.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00b7 Identify opportunities to make sure that a meaningful impact beyond Expo 2020 through a legacy phase.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00b7 Demonstrate how technology and innovation can improve accessibility for people of determination.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"simplyweb-checked\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We considered sustainable urban development principles in our approach at each stage of delivery. This includes the design and construction of the base build, temporary construction, and overlay used during the Expo event.
