A building can satisfy Approved Document M in full and still produce poor visitor journeys, because the regulations set a minimum for construction rather than a test of how a place works in use. Accessible does not always mean intuitive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The most common failure in access auditing is volume. A report that lists 400 findings without ranking them transfers the analytical work back to the client. It looks thorough and it is functionally useless, because the organisation receiving it still has to work out which twelve of those findings matter, which forty can wait for the next refurbishment, and which are artefacts of a listed fa\u00e7ade that will never change. That judgement is the audit. Everything else is data collection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A good access audit tells an organisation three things: where the friction is across the whole journey, which improvements deliver the most for the least, and how the\u00a0remainder\u00a0sequences against refurbishment cycles and capital planning. It gives a building manager something to act on this month, a project team something to design around next year, and a board something to
